Founded in 2011, The Nicholas Center’s mission is to create innovative programs and services that allow Autistic individuals to learn, live and work in the community. The Nicholas Center supports individuals to learn critical life skills, improve social and communication abilities, gain vocational training and jobs and engage in meaningful community projects. Plant-A-Row is an incredible nonprofit in Port that provides homegrown fruits and vegetables to those in need. Their mission: To mobilize the Port Washington community to grow and distribute locally grown produce to our food insecure families, and impact climate change as it relates to growing food. You can find Plant-A-Row gardens and painted pots all over town, and they are always in need of volunteers for all you growers and planters out there! More info on their website. https://www.plantarowforthehungry.org

Through a joint collaboration The Nicholas Center works closely with Plant-A-Row offering Autistic individuals an opportunity to give back and do meaningful work such as painting, maintaining and growing dozens of pots throughout Port that will provide food for those in need!
